I am Roberto, the proud son of Jorge Saenz, the author of our books.
My academic background and career have primarily been in IT. Nevertheless, I have always dedicated considerable time to collaborating with my father on editing his books, which has allowed me to maintain a connection to mathematics.
I’d long believed I needed a strong stimulus to shake my impostor syndrome and dive deeper into mathematics. Tragically, it came in the form of my father’s death.
This event marked a pivotal moment in my life, leaving a significant void that, surprisingly, I could only overcome by pursuing further studies in mathematics
Reading his books and completing the exercises made me feel a deeper connection to him. I like to think that this relates to the theory in the movie Interstellar, which scientifically describes the only thing that transcends space and time: love.
My nearly spiritual experience with mathematics has given me a markedly different perspective from that of traditional professors and students intimidated by their courses. I feel a greater affinity for the latter group—which is somewhat ironic, given that I am now pursuing a master’s degree in mathematics. Thus, I do not pretend to be my father; rather, I aim to contribute value to society, just as he did, while remaining true to myself.
